Canoe Tour from Angera to Arona
Cross Lake Maggiore from Lombardy to Piedmont
Cross Lake Maggiore by canoe
Start in Angera, on the Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore, and leave the Rocca di Angera behind as you paddle towards Arona in Piedmont. Without a motor, the canoe lets you experience the lake at a slower pace, surrounded by open water and mountain views.
The Bruschera wetlands
The route passes the Bruschera, a protected natural area near Angera with wetlands, reeds, woodland and rich wildlife. From the canoe, you can observe this landscape from the water without disturbing it, with opportunities to spot water birds, fish and other signs of life around the lake.
Isolino Partegora
In the Gulf of Angera, the route passes Isolino Partegora, a small island surrounded by reeds and vegetation. During the mulberry season, you may even be able to pick and taste the fruit directly from the canoe.
Arriving in Arona from the lake
After crossing Lake Maggiore, Arona gradually appears ahead. Arriving from the water offers a completely different perspective of the town, with its lakeside promenade, historic buildings and lively atmosphere. You can take a short break in Arona before returning to the water.
A journey between two regions
The experience connects Angera in Lombardy with Arona in Piedmont, using Lake Maggiore as the route between them. The landscape changes throughout the journey, from wetlands and natural shores to the lively waterfront of Arona.
The return journey
On the way back to Angera, the same lake reveals a different perspective. The Rocca di Angera gradually comes back into view and the landscape can be appreciated from the opposite direction. The experience can also be enhanced on request with a toast, a small aperitif or a herbal tea on board.
