Stresa and the Borromean Islands

Stresa is one of the best-known destinations on Lake Maggiore and sits directly on the Borromean Gulf. From the lakeside promenade, Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre are spread out across the water, while Mottarone rises behind the town. It is an ideal base for exploring the lake, the islands, historic villages and the surrounding mountains.

There is much more beyond the islands

From Stresa, you can explore Baveno and Feriolo, head up to Mottarone, or continue towards Verbania and the Fondotoce nature reserve. The surrounding area also offers hiking, via ferrata routes, outdoor attractions and Lake Maggiore Zipline, making this part of the region a great base for combining lake, nature, mountains and adventure.
