Imagine stepping into a Canadian canoe and leaving the shore behind, slowly entering one of the most natural areas of Lake Varese, near Isolino Virginia.
You are no longer looking at the lake. You are on it.
The canoe moves through an environment of reeds, vegetation and water, where the landscape changes continuously and the noise of everyday life seems far away.
Seeing Lake Varese from the inside
Just a few centimetres above the water, you start noticing things that are easy to miss from the shore.
Fish, small freshwater shrimp, shells and birds can all become part of the experience. Green vegetation and blue water surround the route, while Pollo accompanies you, sharing stories about what you encounter and helping you look more closely at the environment around you.
We are not environmental guides, and we do not turn the experience into a formal ecology lesson. We simply know the place, have explored its stories and know enough to make you look at the lake differently.
A stable canoe, even if you have never paddled before
The Canadian canoe can accommodate up to four people and is stable and comfortable. No previous experience is required, and you do not need to be particularly sporty.
You quickly learn how to paddle together, and you can enjoy the experience in normal clothes, without specialised technical equipment.
That makes it suitable for very different groups: friends, families, couples, birthdays and special occasions.
There is no rigid group size either. We can organise the experience for small or larger groups, adapting the format to the people and the occasion.
Reaching Isolino Virginia and stepping out of the canoe
One option is to reach Isolino Virginia and come ashore for a guided walk.
This means the experience does not end with the canoe trip. You can step onto an island with a fascinating history and continue exploring the landscape on foot.
The route can also be personalised in other ways. Lake Varese is large enough to offer different itineraries, including routes towards the Tinella river mouth or in the direction of Bardello and the dam, whenever the route and conditions allow.
What about an aperitivo after canoeing?
A birthday can become an aperitivo on Isolino Virginia, or a real Ape Experience, with the aperitivo served directly in the canoe.
Or you can take it further and organise lunch.
There is no fixed formula: the duration, route and food experience can all be adapted to the group and the occasion.
