Baveno and the Borromean Gulf

Baveno sits on the Borromean Gulf, with the Borromean Islands across the water and mountains rising behind the town. From here, you can explore the lake, walk along the waterfront, visit Feriolo and Stresa, or head towards Verbania, Mottarone and the trails leading up to Monte Camoscio. In just a few kilometres, the landscape moves between water, historic villages, pink granite, woodland and mountains.

A town shaped by stone

Pink granite is one of the features that makes Baveno different from other Lake Maggiore destinations. The old quarries, the Picasass stone workers and the GranUM museum tell a story that is still visible in the streets, buildings and monuments of the town. Above Baveno, the Picasass trail and the local via ferrata routes open wide views across the Borromean Gulf and connect the lakeside with the surrounding mountains.

Events, lights and local flavours

Baveno and Feriolo host concerts, exhibitions, lakeside shows and food events throughout the year. Seasonal highlights include Baveno e Feriolo d'Incanto, with large-scale light and water displays, Luci d'Incanto and Sapori di Lago, a food event celebrating traditional recipes made with local lake fish. Programmes change each year, but these events make the area worth visiting beyond a typical summer beach day.
